BEHIND YOUR ADU

Director of Field Operations

John Deveraux

John was one of the first employees hired on at Nest.  He has been and continues to be a key player in Nest’s growth and success.  John has over three decades of industry experience where he has had the opportunity to manage the construction process of high-end custom homes, tenant improvements, and larger scale commercial construction projects.  John’s grit, work ethic, and ability to solve problems in the field make him an extremely effective builder – running and turning over successful project after project has become second nature!

Superintendent

Kelly Ferree

Kelly is a Utah native that grew up in the construction industry where he got invaluable hands-on experience in trades like painting, rough framing, and finish carpentry.  Kelly managed large scale commercial construction projects and high end residential homes for years.  His experience managing different trades and streamlining schedules out in the field have made him an integral part of the team.  Kelly’s high standards for craftsmanship, means and methods knowledge, and ability to lead a project make him an extremely competent builder that knows how to crank out ADU’s!

Construction Project Manager

Mike Rutz

Mike grew up in Delaware and decided to move to Utah when he fell in love with Salt Lake’s awesome outdoor and ski culture.  Mike got his formal education back east but really learned the ins and outs of construction working for his friend’s residential building company in Delaware.  Mike’s responsible for material orders, job scheduling/budgeting, and making sure that your construction project finishes on time and under budget!

While out of the office, you’ll find Mike hitting the slopes, hanging out by the pool, or taking care of his new puppy!

Pre-Construction Manager / Architectural Designer

Felix Guzman

Felix grew up working for his father’s architecture company in Florida where he had the opportunity to start learning the craft at a very early age.  He has nearly 20 years of design experience in residential design – specifically high end custom homes, accessory dwelling units, and home remodels / additions.  Felix’s eye for design, technical experience, and ability to manage teams and processes make him an excellent pre-construction manager at Nest.

When Felix isn’t designing you’ll find him enjoying film, riding motorcycles, and going on outdoor adventures with his wife and three kids.

ADU Specialist

Chad Voisen

He has worked closely with homeowners, investors, and families, overseeing property acquisitions, sales, renovations, and long-term asset strategy. Chad brings a hands-on, practical approach to ADU projects—helping clients understand zoning, feasibility, and value so they can move forward with confidence. His deep local roots and real-world property management experience allow him to guide ADU projects with clarity and a long-term perspective.

ADU Specialist

Anders Larson

Anders came to Utah to go to school at the University of Utah where he played D1 lacrosse.  He brings a uniquely diverse background to the team with experience in biotech, underground mining, and software sales.  This wide range of experience has shaped his ability to solve complex problems that can sometimes arise in the pre-construction phases of construction projects.  His ability to collaborate, creativity, and attention to detail frequently set his clients up for success on the start of their projects.

Outside of work, Anders likes to ride dirt bikes, go skiing and snowbiling,  or golf depending on the season.

CEO

Jim Sanders

Jim grew up in Southern CA where he got a taste for building working on framing crews and hanging drywall during summers in high school. He moved to Utah to go to school and received a bachelor’s of science in architecture at the university of utah. After graduating, he decided to stay in construction where he had the opportunity to be a superintendent and project manager where he was involved with building everything from restaurants, self storage facilities, and multi family developments.

When Jim’s not working, you’ll find him going on date nights with his wife, duck hunting with his brothers, or riding dirt bikes with his college buddies.

CFO

Kenna Sanders

Kenna grew up in North Salt Lake, then went to school at the University of Utah to earn her Masters degree in Accounting.  She is a licensed CPA and has had the opportunity to work on the tax/accounting sides of both small blue-collar businesses and large public accounting firms.  She does the book keeping, manages payroll, and makes sure that Nest is overall financially healthy!  Her care and attention to detail make her an integral part of the team.

When Kenna’s not deep into the numbers, you’ll find her lifting weights, spending time with her husband and two dogs, or planning her next trip.
